Giving thanks ALWAYS for ALL things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus. “
1)Thanksgiving is a “Day. “ In 1863 Abraham Lincoln declared it a national holiday. We gather together with family and friends and we have food and we celebrate it.
2)It is a “DUTY” according to the Scripture. Ps.100:4 “Enter His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise; be thankful unto Him and bless His Name. Ps.105:1”O give thanks unto the Lord; call upon His name ; make known His deeds among the people. “ 1 Thess. 5:18 “IN everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
When we are not thankful we are not in God’s will. Satan‘s purpose in the garden was to get Adam and Eve out of God‘s will. We must give thanks IN but also FOR all things. How do you thank God for the bad things that happen? Matthew Henry who wrote a great Bible commentary was taken by a thief and rubbed on an occasion. After he was robbed he said, “I thank Thee, Lord, first because it is the first time I have been robbed.
Second, I thank Thee because he took my purse and not my life.
Third, I thank Thee because though he took my all, it was not very much. Fourth, I thank Thee because it was I who was robbed and not I who robbed. Even for all things, there is something we can thank God for.
Thanksgiving is a “DAY.” It’s a “DUTY.” It’s a “DELIGT.” It’s one of those delightful things that we must learn and practice every day in our lives. We must have a LIFE of Thanksgiving not just a DAY of Thanksgiving. Not a life of Thanksgiving but Thanks – Living. Happy Thanksgiving! “Thank God for His indescribable Gift, and Salvation, and Forgiveness, and Love. “
