“Are you playing with fire.”

“Are you playing with fire.”

“Are you playing with fire.”

Proverbs 6:27 “Can a man scoop a flame into his lap and not have his clothes catch on fire?” Sin works like fire. It starts small, and then it grows out of control. That is what happened to Samson. He thought he could handle sin. He thought he could keep playing the game. But the devil knows how to package his wares. He knows how to sell his stuff. The devil sized up Samson and figured out that he was a he-man with a she weakness. He couldn’t bring Samson down in the battlefield, so he brought him down in the bedroom. And he found a willing accomplice in Samson, who thought he could handle it. Temptation comes in attractive packages, but for temptation to succeed, we must be willing participants. For temptation to work, there must be desire on our part. James 1:14–15 says, “Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.” For the devil to succeed, we must listen to him, yield to him, and desire what he is offering. The devil can throw anything at us. He offers different kinds of bait. But it isn’t the bait that constitutes sin. It’s the bite. Did you identify your weaknesses? For example: wrong entourages, movies, Internet, Facebook, money, entertainment, drugs, alcohol, smoking, girls, boys, electronic games, gambling, playing cards, sports, sexual addiction, etc. Your weaknesses will make you fall into temptation, then in sin and sin will bring death. Jesus gives us the secret to overcome temptation: “Watch and pray so you’ll not fall into temptation.” The Bible tells us that “God provided the way to escape from temptation.” Paul is urging us in 1Corinthians 6:18” Flee sexually immorality.” Verse 15”Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not ! Remember, the strongest man-Samson, the wisest man-Solomon, and the man after God’s own heart-David, fell into sexual immorality. 1CORINTHIANS 10:13” No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man ; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”2Timothy 2:22” Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” So first, you must identify your weakness. Secondly, you have to flee or to run away from temptation. But is not enough just to flee from temptation, you must pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace. Your empty mind and heart must be occupied by something , whatever you put into it. Thirdly, you have to watch and pray that you might not fall into temptation. Don’t try to flirt with temptation or sin because you will lose like Samson and others. Remember, sin will love you for a season and curse you for eternity.
